The whole point of this one-hour review is to expand my knowledge of games, so today I rented something I would never consider buying: a motorcycle racing game. I reckon that as a result my review is going to be pretty biased, as I'm not really into the whole racing game thing that much.
Category
Motorcycle racing.
Pros
- Once I got the hang of it, I found the racing to be fun. I got into the zone every once in a while, where I wasn't thinking but just moving. That's a good sign - there's nothing terribly distracting about any parts of the game.
- The level your can customize your bike/biker to is awesome. I'm sure there are some fun logos on the chests of players out there somewhere.
- The game doesn't terribly penalize you for crashing, which is good for a retarded racer like myself.
- The game lets you drive the wrong direction and crash into other racers, which amused me when I got tired of actually racing. I also used crashes to knock other racers out of the running. :D
- Extreme mode, once I discovered it, was way more fun than the other racing style. I don't know at all how it was different, but it made me crash less, which was a huge plus.
- I found the music very fitting and good listening while playing this game.
Cons
- For a racing game, it's really not that pretty. The graphics are fine and it runs very smooth, but it doesn't seem like a racing game takes that much horsepower in the first place to render. Come on, where is the lush background?
- There seems to be a large lexicon for motorcycle racing, but as an outsider I just didn't understand some parts of the game. It wasn't really willing to teach me anything, either. This isn't a problem for fans of motorcycle racing, but I would think it's hard to reach out to anyone else.
- I hate crashing so much. But that's more a personal problem than an issue with the game.
- It seemed impossible to make a huge, multi-person wreck. The computer was too smart for that. Sadly.
Verdict
If I owned this game, I'd play it with friends. I wouldn't play it alone, but that's just because I'm not a racing fan.
It's kind of a niche game. But that's okay; I think it's well-made for the niche.
